Last Friday, we had the great honor to attend NIKE’s “Game On, World.” event, that took place in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
“A small group of select individuals were invited to L.A. to be among the first to try the new Nike+ Training and Nike+ Basketball experiences on 6.22, a full week before the product drops in retail on 6.29. After being picked up from LAX, we headed over to the London West Hollywood Hotel for a (incredible) lunch get-together, that took place on the hotels rooftop.
The first stop was at The Vault, a premium Nike retail and customization space located at the Staples Center where Ricky Engelberg, Experience Director for Digital Sport at Nike, introduced the new Nike+ gear. Next stop was the Staples Center for a stunning Dunk contest hosted by NBA legend Kenny Smith and a live performance by Cali’s very own Schoolboy Q.
Hosted by comedian and head writer for Saturday Night Live, Seth Meyers, the experience concluded at the historic Montalban Theatre in Hollywood, where we were able to try the product first hand and compete against each other for a chance to win the Nike+ Console Case. Lawrence Jackson, Defensive End for Detroit Lions, and Sofia Boutella an Algerian French Dancer surprised guests by joining in on the fun.
Set against music provided by DJ MOS, guests competed against one another in the Nike+ Trial Zone where they measured how high they jumped, how fast they moved and how hard they worked through the Vertical Leap, Foot Fires and Jump Rope tests respectively. The finale was set on the rooftop of the Montalban where guests tackled the Nike+ Playground and representatives from each team were invited to compete in a Showcase Dunk Contest set against an interactive LED wall.”
A unforgettable trip, with good people and great vibes. As always … NIKE did it BIG! A huge thank you to Bianca for letting us be a part of history. Beastin salutes you!
Last but not least, here is a video piece the Nike digital team made from the dunk.
